I'm the Manager, Online Learning Strategy and Design at Vancouver Community College, where I help staff and faculty to select and use educational technologies effectively. I fell into education and edtech specifically through my work as an archaeologist in the 1990s, excavating well-visited sites in Scotland, including Edinburgh and Stirling Castles, and Melrose Abbey. However, I was spectacularly bad at fieldwork and found myself promoted/relegated to documenting and reporting on the finds, creating public facing educational materials about the dig and so on - all of which required familiarity and engagement with edtech.
