Show Me How You Did It: Getting Back to Hands-On in EdTech
We invite proposals from educators, instructional designers, educational technologists, librarians, and other professionals dedicated to exploring, innovating, and improving teaching and learning with technology. If you are passionate about sharing your ideas, strategies, or experiences, we encourage you to submit a proposal for one of the dynamic session types outlined below.
Please use the provided prompts as inspiration to craft your proposal. You can submit proposals to both session types: Interactive Presentations and the Demo-Fest, or to just one session type. The Call for Proposals closes March 14th, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
Session Types
Interactive Presentations (10 or 20 minutes)
Interactive presentations can be either 10 or 20 minutes long, with five minutes allocated for questions, and presentation proposals should align with one of the following themes. Prompts are provided to spark ideas for your session.
Ed Tech in Action
- I’ve designed a student activity using technology that boosts engagement and learning outcomes. Attendees will learn about the activity and discuss its impact.
- I’ll demonstrate an open-source tool that simplifies a specific teaching or learning task. Participants will learn how to create their own sample.
- Let me introduce you to a new technology: an emerging tool that’s transforming how we teach. Attendees will gain setup tips and best practices.
- I’ve developed a workflow that connects different tech tools to enhance student learning. I’ll share integration steps and lesson templates.
How to Collaborate with Faculty
- I’ve developed a framework for creating authentic assignments using technology that students can adapt and reuse. I’ll walk through the design process and share examples.
- I guide faculty in finding and implementing open educational resources. Learn my step-by-step approach for curating and adapting materials.
- I’ll demonstrate how I helped faculty transform their traditional assignments into engaging digital experiences using technology. Workshop participants will learn how to support this transformation.
- I support faculty in creating accessible course materials using technology. Join me to learn practical strategies for universal design.
- I’ve worked with faculty to create open resources that can be reused and repurposed for courses or workshops. I’ll show you the resource we developed and how it’s reusable.
Sharing Failures and Half-Baked Ideas
- I have a partially formed idea about [teaching activity/resource] that I use regularly. While it’s not fully developed, I’m excited to share my thoughts and get your feedback.
- I started developing an innovative approach to [teaching challenge] using [tool/method], but it’s been sitting on the back burner. I’m looking for fresh perspectives to help move it forward.
- I’ve found a unique way to use our library/learning commons [resource name] for [learning purpose]. I think others might benefit from this unexpected approach.
- I’ve customized my learning management system to [solve specific challenge] in an unconventional way. I’m eager to show you how this could work in your courses.
- I tried a bold experiment with [technology/resource name] that didn’t go as planned but ended up inspiring growth and creativity. Let me tell you about it.
Demo-Fest: Interactive Demos
The Demo-Fest will take place on Day One (May 22nd) of the conference from 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Participants can visit the Demo-Fest stations or join the Studio Tours happening simultaneously. During this time, presenters will showcase their demos at individual stations as participants walk through and engage with each one. Presenters should prepare a quick pitch or demo of their technology or resource to spark discussion with attendees.
Use the following prompts to inspire your Demo-Fest proposal:
- I have a quick demo to share that shows how I create [specific outcome] using [tool name]. It’s a showcase of what works for me.
- I’ve discovered a time-saving trick in [common platform] that my colleagues love. Let me show you this workflow that changed my practice.
- I will demonstrate how I use [everyday tool] in an unexpected way. This demo will give you a new perspective on a familiar tool.
- I have a short showcase of how I solved [common teaching challenge] using [technology]. I’ll walk you through my approach.
- I’m excited to show you how I streamlined [routine task] with [simple technology]. This demo will transform your daily workflow.
- I’ve found a creative way to use [basic feature] in our learning management system. Let me demonstrate this solution that students love.
